Dyson is bringing back its Corrale hair straightener with a significant redesign, making the device smaller and adding an unusual cooling system designed to reduce the amount of residual heat left in hair.
The new Dyson Corrale CoolShine keeps the original model’s flexible copper plates, which are designed to distribute heat more evenly while styling. But Dyson has added water-filled cooling pipes that draw excess heat away from the hair immediately after it passes through the heated plates.
According to TechRadar, the redesigned model is also lighter and less bulky than the original Corrale, while the cooling attachment is the biggest change. Dyson says the approach can help reduce heat exposure and leave hair feeling smoother, softer and cooler after styling.
The Corrale CoolShine is priced at $329 and is expected to launch in September. The company has also unveiled the Airsmooth, a new hot-air brush that combines airflow technology with anti-snag bristles for drying and styling.
With the Corrale CoolShine, Dyson is essentially taking a familiar styling tool and trying to solve one of the biggest complaints about hair straighteners: the damage caused by repeated heat exposure.
